Biography

Geraldine Laly has always known she would become an artist. Her love of painting and of colours settled in over the years along with a visceral urge to transpose her emotions and find a channel for her bursts of creativity.

After being admitted to the Paris Bar Association and then practicing law for 12 years as an Intellectual Property lawyer, Geraldine’s passion got the better of her.

Geraldine started out at the Grande Chaumière Academy in Paris, the workshop of notorious painters such as Gauguin, Modigliani, Lhote… and then mastered her technique at the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Arts. After several exhibitions, she decided to become a professional painter. Even when she is not painting, her creative spirit wanders. Geraldine easily switches from paint brushes to a camera with her eyes still on the alert. Back at the workshop, photos and paintings intertwine through the doing of collages and the working of materials. They become one in subtle alchemy.

Geraldine sees every day of her life as an artist, as an adventure and a blessing.
